The Refurbed platform login is based on a 2 factor authentication system (2FA). The login is been upgraded using a TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) Authentication process.

Why is refurbed making this change?

As a follow-on to our introduction of email-based two-factor authentication (2FA) in May 2024, we are adding a new, even more secure, method to secure seller accounts. Time-based One Time Password (TOTP) is an industry standard way to further secure accounts and defend against phishing or other external password compromises. Beyond a password, it uses an authenticator app to provide the numeric code needed to access a seller account and is set up with a QR code.

On (date) refurbed will require usage of TOTP-based multifactor authentication and it will replace the existing mandatory email-based solution.

Steps to enable TOTP-based Multifactor Authentication

To set up your account for TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password), first, install an authenticator app or a password manager (in your smartphone or tablet) to manage your TOTP login code. Some suggestions are:

To activate:

  1. Go to Settings in the refurbed seller interface.

  2. Select the Security tab and find the Two-Factor Authentication section.

  6. The app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter this code in the modal to verify.

  7. Once verified, two-factor authentication will be enabled.
